In 1971, entrepreneurs Harlan Peterson and Dave Nesheim, saw the need for a business that would
create a solution which would preserve, on a long term storage medium, paper documents, generated for years by hospitals,
insurance companies, title companies, banks, and other industries in an indexed format that would allow for quicker retrieval of those documents
as they were needed.
With that vision, Microfilm Communications Incorporated was born.
During the next two years, Microfilm Communications built partnerships with hospitals, banks
and other industries that generated an incredible amount of paper documents. With their eye on the customers' needs and a high
quality standard, Microfilm Communications fast became a leader in the Micrographics and document preservation industry.
Microfilm Communications was doing very well as a Service Bureau for a wide variety of customers.
Dave and Harlan were well aware of the fact that there was also a need for a micrographic
equipment, parts and service supplier.
With their solid understanding of the equipment and an excellent relationship with their suppliers,
they created another company.
In 1973 Abaci Incorporated was born.
For the next 24 years, Microfilm Communications and Abaci Inc. continued to provided high quality
in house document preservation services as well as top notch sales and on-site service of micrographic equipment.
Unfortunately and very untimely, Harlan and Dave passed away in 1997 and 1999 respectively.
Led by Dave's wife Trudy, a veteran in the industry with more than 33 years experience behind her,
Microfilm Communications and Abaci Inc. merged in 2002 to create River City Data Inc. A full service document preservation and
digital imaging provider.
Trudy, utilizing her years of experience and insight into changing trends, continues to lead one
of the Midwest's most professional and quality conscious business to business solution providers in the industry.
Going forward, River City Data Inc. will continue to provide our customers with the highest quality
service bureau work along with our professional sales and services it has grown to know, expect and rely on from us.
